I finally fixed my site. Turns out the mysql database changed its name without telling me. What have I been up to, you ask? I went to Chicago over Columbus Day weekend. I had fun, as usual, but I didn’t take too many pictures. We did lots of shopping! We were in Wicker Park where I saw a sign for an “Artists’ Street Market.” I dragged Brian over only to find out that it the “street market” was a gravel-paved alley with four tables. No loss though. B picked up a hand-silkscreened sweatshirt by this artist. Here he is wearing it while drinking some local beer:
We even found a bar (Wicker Park Tavern) where you buy a beer for $4 and you get a burger and fries for $1. $1!
The next day, we went to Evanston where I got a nice fall jacket. I showed it to my sister, who said it “looks like it could have come from a thrift store.” Is that good or bad? My mom borrowed my camera, so I don’t have a picture for you to judge. Anyway, I also bought some pretty yarn.

It’s Manos del Uruguay, handspun & dyed by a women’s collective in Uruguay. I’ve wanted some for a long time; they have the prettiest colors but it’s $13 a ball! Evanston is also putting in a “cereal bar.” Don’t ask me what that means.
Unfortunately, we did not eat dinner at the cereal bar. But we did eat at this lovely Chinese-Japanese restaurant where we sat by a cool painting of Chairman Mao.
I also got some new shoes. I’ve worn them a bunch already and got lots of compliments.

And after I finished buying Chicago, it was time to come home. Back to work, back to the grind. I gotta run and go watch LOST, but here’s a picture of the gloves that I made:

It was the most stressful knitting project I’ve done yet – those fingers drove me crazy. But now that I have them I love them, and a girl in the office thought they were so cool that she went out and bought some [so she could be like me]. LOST and decaf chai are calling me. Til next time, my friends.

We’re even – I checked out KK Shirts (the sweatshirt you posted is fantastic!) and I’m probably going to buy a t-shirt.
Your Knucks look great! I finished the fingers for one and then put them down and haven’t picked them up for months. I love the concept but I think I might just make a pair of fingerless gloves with a more standard pattern (I use Ann Budd’s Handy Book of Patterns) and then embroider them.

Is each glove one continuous knit? Or set of stitches, you know what I mean?
Are there seams on the sides of the palm, or is it round? If its all one piece, did it split into the finger pieces later, or were they made and attached afterwards?

First I made the fingers individually, then they had to be connected and it was knit round going towards the cuff. There are no seams, except there were gaps where the fingers were connected that I sewed up with a couple of stitches.
